FMJD : Déclaration sur la décision des Etats-Unis sur le statut de Jérusalem

The World Federation of Democratic Youth denounces and condemns the decision of the United States of America to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It is in fact a decision that violates resolutions and decisions of the United Nations. The status of Jerusalem is a critical and important issue for achieving a peaceful solution of the Palestinian issue. Additionally, we note that a decision preceded by the international community, where it declares East Jerusalem as the capital city of an independent and free Palestine.

The unaccepted decision of the US and its new administration constitutes a flagrant violation of the right of the Palestinian. It is a clear support towards the Israeli occupation and another sign that proves the imperialist relation of the two forces. Further, it undermines the possibility of a peaceful solution where at the same time it creates the space for more conflicts not only within Palestine but also in the whole region of Middle East.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth, standing always on the Charter of the UN, demands for the international community to defend its earlier decisions and principles of law. We call the whole world to respect the right of the Palestinian people to an independent state. We repeat again the position of WFDY for the termination of the Israeli occupation, and we call the members of the United Nations to join this demand along with the recognition of the independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

We remind the world that the millions of Palestinian refugees, the death of the Palestinians, the repression they are living, the apartheid walls in the west bank, the blocked area of Gaza, are all results of the Zionist aggressiveness and occupation. Once more WFDY along with fascism, terrorism and neo-nazism does not hesitate to condemn and denounce Zionism, since they are all elements that serve imperialism and spread the death and terror.

Finally, WFDY call its members and militants to proceed to actions of solidarity and support to the Palestinian people, and also to denounce loudly and strong the unilateral and unaccepted decision of the USA.
